Zelda Ocarina of Time Kakariko Village
Kakariko Village plays an important part in Link's story in Ocarina of Time, and it's also here that you'll want to redeem the rewards for any Gold Skulltula Tokens you've found.
Below, you'll find an overview of what objectives you'll be completing here, as well as the locations of any key collectibles in the area.
- Child timeline
- Adult timeline
- Gold Skulltula locations
- Heart Piece locations
Child timeline
As Child Link, you'll visit Kakariko Village early on in the story to open up the Death Mountain Trail using Zelda's Letter. Later on in the game (and after visiting Kakariko Village as Adult Link), you'll also need to complete the 'Bottom of the Well' mini-dungeon as Child Link.
You'll also be able to collect the following upgrades from Kakariko Village:
- Adult's Wallet - Collect and redeem 10 Gold Skulltula Tokens.
- Giant's Wallet - Collect and redeem 30 Gold Skulltula Tokens.
- Bigger Quiver - Take part in the Shooting Gallery minigame as Adult Link.
Adult timeline
As Adult Link, you'll need to learn both Nocturne of Shadow and the Song of Storms in Kakariko Village. This is after the Water Temple dungeon in Lake Hylia, but before completing the 'Bottom of the Well' mini-dungeon in the area as Child Link.
This is also when you can begin Biggoron's Sword Trading side quest.
Gold Skulltula locations
There are six Gold Skulltula to collect in Kakariko Village. These are as follows:
Gold Skulltula #1:
As Child Link and at night, roll into the tree just past the Kakariko Village entrance gate.
Gold Skulltula #2:
As Child Link and at night, head up to where the guard for Death Mountain stands in Kakariko Village. Once there, have a look behind the building opposite the guard.
Gold Skulltula #3:
As Child Link and at night, there's a Gold Skulltula on the ladder for the watchtower.
Gold Skulltula #4:
As Child Link and at night, check the bricks in the middle of the construction site.
Gold Skulltula #5:
As Child Link and at night, you can find a Gold Skulltula on the wall of the House of Skulltula.
Gold Skulltula #6:
As Adult Link and at night, check the wall behind Impa's House (the house next to the chicken coop). To reach it, use either the Hookshot or Longshot on the roof before hitting the spider with your sword.
Heart Piece locations
There are four Heart Pieces to collect in Kakariko Village. These are as follows:
Heart Piece #1:
There are two ways to get this Heart Piece as Child Link. First, you can wait until you've visited the Great Fairy atop Death Mountain after completing Dodongo's Cavern. The owl will then offer you a free flight back down to Kakariko Village. Take this flight and he'll leave you atop the roof of Impa's House. Now you can jump down from this roof onto the cow shed roof and grab your Heart Piece.
As Adult Link, you can reach the roof using either the Hookshot or Longshot. From there, simply drop down to the ledge and go inside the shed.
Playing the original game?In the original game, the cow shed containing the Heart Piece is actually inside of Impa's House. You need to drop down onto the roof of the cucco pen and then go inside via a wall in the house wall. This can be done using the above methods, but you can also reach the roof by gliding from the construction site opposite using a cucco.
Heart Piece #2:
There's a Heart Piece sitting atop a wooden beam inside the windmill. To reach it, you first have to win Dampé's race as the exit will bring you to the upper part of the windmill. From there you can use the central, rotating, beam to reach the Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #3:
Visit the House of Skulltula – as Child or Adult Link – once you've found 50 Gold Skulltulas to get yourself a Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #4:
Once you have the Hookshot, go to the ledge either behind the Potion Shop or by the pots near its entrance. In both locations, you'll be able to use the Hookshot on the vines growing on the roof of Granny's Potion Shop. Now all you have to do is drop down to the smaller roof section and talk to the man sitting there for your Heart Piece.
Playing the original game?In the original game, you can reach this man by using the Longshot to cross the roofs of Kakariko Village. Though you might be able to get it a little earlier by performing a very well placed side jump off the watchtower.
