It's time for The Elder Scrolls 6 to get its official name! Following a report last week that outed how Bethesda was going to reveal the name in November, the company has just done that as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
Like we said last time, there are spoilers ahead if you don't want to know!
The Elder Scrolls 6 will officially be known as "Sentinel", and although today's trailer doesn't go into any detail whatsoever, it does mention Hammerfell by name, which is where the game was rumoured to be set.
Here's the accompanying description for the trailer:
“The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.” Yazar, Moth Priest to High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell (4E 206).
Your next journey to Tamriel will be in The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel."
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has also congratulated Bethesda on the announcement in a statement today:
The trailer was initially tucked into the end of a video in which Todd Howard celebrates the 40 years of Bethesda Game Studios, highlighting that it felt like the "perfect time" to reveal the full name of The Elder Scrolls 6.
We'll leave you with that video down below, and here's hoping we find out a lot more information about the game over the coming year - perhaps it could even be a launch title for Project Helix? That would be pretty special! (for what it's worth, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier believes it's still more than two years away).
